From the moment I read the synopsis of Ginger’s Heart, I must admit I had a bit of fear that this story was going to be difficult for me. I absolutely do not do love triangles and anticipating this story was going to be about a woman and two cousins fighting for her affections, I was a bit panicked that it wasn’t going to work for me. But as I am an avid Katy Regnery fan/stalker, there was absolutely no chance I was going to miss out on one of her stories. Honestly I should have known better than to have even an inkling of doubt because I completely fell in love with Ginger, Cain and Woodman and this fantastic story.
I’m certain everyone has read a book where the characters absolutely captivated and took control of their mind, heart and soul. Well, from the moment I opened Ginger’s Heart I was completely mesmerized and drawn into the lives of Ginger, Cain and Woodman. I just couldn’t get them out of my head even when I wasn’t reading. I continued to replay the scenes between them in my mind over and over like I was watching a movie. I worried a bit about how I was going to be able to include a description of this story in my review without spoiling the plot so I’ve decided to rely on Katy’s synopsis for that. What I do want to say is that there is such a deep and resolute connection between these three hearts even now as I think back to them all, I have a burning of tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. Ginger, Cain and Woodman took ahold my heart from the turning of the first page and although I have finished reading their story, they continue even now to hold on to it.
Ginger’s Heart had intensely heartbreaking moments when all I wanted to do was sit and cry. But when I was finally able to return to the story, I found that Katy began to slowly repair my heart finally returning it to me in one piece full of contentment, emotion and love for an unbelievably beautiful love story. Katy Regnery is positively, hands down, one of the most gifted and talented story tellers I have ever had the pleasure of reading. She creates all of her characters with such grace and love and has the unwavering ability to completely transport her readers to another world. Katy takes you through the gamut of emotions making you laugh out loud, cry with tears of joy as well as sorrow literally rolling down your cheeks and even dislike making you want to scream at the book. But she also has the amazing ability to make you swoon and fall so hard and so deeply in love with her characters that they become a part of your soul and a part of your life.
Ginger’s Heart is a powerful love story of hearts bound together by time and now shares the number one place on my list of favorite stories of all time by Katy Regnery who is definitely at the top of my list of favorite authors as well. Standing ovation to you Ms. Regnery. Ginger’s Heart is beautifully written and is an absolutely amazing story.
Once upon a time there were two cousins:
one golden like the sun,
one dark like midnight,
one a protector,
one a predator,
one a Woodsman
and
one a Wolf…
both owning equal,
but different,
parts of a little girl’s heart.
In this modern retelling of “Little Red Riding Hood,” the woodsman and the wolf are cousins, and Little Red is the girl with whom they both fall in love.
Beautiful Ginger McHuid, daughter of Kentucky’s premiere horse breeder, grows up on her family farm, best friends with Cain Wolfram, the son of her father’s Stallion Manager, and Cain’s cousin, Josiah Woodman, son of a local banker. Throughout their happy childhood, the three are inseparable friends, but as they mature into adults, complicated feelings threaten to destroy their long history of friendship and love.
