Confession time – this is my first Colleen Hover book! I can’t believe it myself. I have most of them on my Kindle and I even have her first two books signed (the indie copies) but I’ve never gotten around to reading any of her work. If you blog you get how backed up you can get and reading for pleasure sort of takes a back seat. However, after reading this book I’m going to binge read everything she’s written! This book was the best book I think I’ve read all year!

I’m not sure my review can do this book justice. Colleen’s words sort of just float off the page and makes you want to stop everything in your life just to sit on a chair and read. It’s been a long time since I read a book that did that to me.

Lily had what appeared to be the perfect life growing up to any outsider but in reality she grew up in a house where her father abused her mother often. Other than her journal, she had no one to share her thoughts and fears with until she noticed a boy heading into an abandon house behind hers. She soon realized she knew him (or at least saw him in the halls of her high school) and she quickly befriended him. Atlas Corrigan turns out to be her first love and their time together has stayed with her to present day. It really was a special relationship.

This story goes back and forth from present to past and honestly I usually find this can be confusing to keep track of but with this story it just flowed. In present day Lily is living in Boston, opening her own business and is soon involved with Ryle, a handsome doctor who is charismatic, charming and super hot!

The two stories will have you going back and forth with your emotions. I know I was both #TeamAtlas and #TeamRyle while reading.

Lily has to be one of the strongest woman in the world. She had me in tears so many times. Her story is heartbreaking and inspiring. I never wanted this story to end. I was so upset when it was over I just needed to know more about her life. I feel like I rambled during this review. It’s so hard to put in words how I felt about this story. It was unbelievable and incredible. I totally recommend this book and trust me there’s so much more to this story that I purposely didn’t include because you should really just read it and uncover it all for yourself. Five stars is just not enough for this book. Go get it now!
